Korey Bissonnette

“Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability”
– John Wooden

As a 12 year member of the United States Air Force, Korey served as a physical fitness instructor, working primarily with Airmen, Soldiers, and Marines. Korey was introduced to CrossFit in 2007, when he was deployed to Iraq and was assigned to head up and coach the CrossFit program in its infancy on Joint Base Balad. After returning home with a promotion to Staff Sergeant, Korey was hand-picked by Squadron Commander at the 439th Westover Airlift Wing to supervise a new fitness program called “Fit to Fight.” This Program ensured that over 3,500 deploying Airmen, Soldiers and Marines were fit to withstand the rigors of forward operating bases from 2007-2015. During this time, Korey also graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management and a concentration in Facility Management.

Over the years, Korey has coached over 7,000 CrossFit classes as well as over 3,500 personal training hours with athletes ranging from NHL All-Star Ryane Clowe, to people brand new to the sport. Prior to coming to Balance Gym, Korey was Head Coach and Manager at CrossFit Hoboken, one of New Jersey’s largest and original boxes. He then took a head coach position and managed operations at Hudson River CrossFit in New Jersey.

Korey has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Johnson & Wales University and a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from Montclair State University. He is currently enrolled in the CrossFit L3 certification. Korey’s positive approach, knowledge and attention to technique, help others aspire to achieve their optimal best.
