Ever since I was in middle school, fitness and nutrition have been two constants in my life that helped shape my interests and intrigue in both fields today.
I’ve always been a thrill seeker. Starting at the age of 9, I began playing tennis, basketball and snowboarding. During my time at the Field School in Washington, DC, I would go on to play 2nd singles for our championship varsity tennis team my freshman year. I would play starting shooting guard for varsity basketball after my freshman year. I would also begin my journey into the world of competitive freestyle snowboarding in West Virginia.
After winning multiple freestyle competitions solo and as a team, I began to receive injuries that would prevent me from pursuing all three sports at the collegiate level. In turn, recovery from those injuries would help spark my interest in personal training and nutrition. I quickly developed a particularly strong interest in rehabilitation and corrective exercise, as well as performance training and nutrition.
During my 4 years at Long Island University and 5 years in the Coast Guard as a rescue swimmer, I began to take my own fitness to the next level. By the time I was out of the military I knew I wanted to make a career out of fitness and nutrition. Since graduating in 2013, I have worked on expanding my knowledge by gaining specialty certification in different subfields of fitness and nutrition. Between 2015-2018 on top of training, I spent my time competing in olympic weightlifting in Springfield,VA where I would learn from top coaches in the area.
I believe that anyone who is willing to learn and dedicate themselves to achieving a healthier body, mind and lifestyle can obtain their fitness goals, whatever they may be. Over the years I have been fortunate enough to witness, and be a part of countless transformations by people who thought their journey might be hopeless at the start. Providing people with direction and structure, then watching that turn into progress is why I love this field and working alongside these like-minded individuals.
