Beth Barrett, now known around Foggy Bottom as “Coach Beth” is originally from Michigan, but has been in DC almost long enough to be considered a native – 8 years. Her weekdays are spent helping clients sell, sell, sell those products and services as a consumer insights Market Research Manager. Her education is grounded in Psychology, but she promises not to analyze her fellow CrossFitters – well not to much at least!
Beth has been Crossfitting for about 4 years, and likes to say – she drank the juice snd never looked back. You will find her around Balance working on her weaknesses – running (Yuck!), rowing, and snatches, and jamming out on her strengths – cleans, HSPU, and push jerks. One of her fitness goals for 2017 is to join the 200lb clean club. Only 25lbs to go. She competes in local Crossfit competitions in and around DC, sometimes solo, but she finds the most satisfaction in a team environment. The supportive atmosphere brings her back to these competitions over and over again. Her favorite thing about Crossfit is the amazing community and friends she has made over the years. That, and you can’t beat the high of hitting a new PR.
Beth‘s coaching philosophy is grounded in solid technique: once a good foundation is built the sky is the limit. However, CrossFit is infinitely scaleable, and just because you can’t do a movement yet, doesn’t mean you can’t get a good burn in.
