Washington DC’s local races for weekend of May 4 – 5

You have gotten through the April showers, start to enjoy the May flowers!  Support some great causes, get in some miles and bring a Balance friend to one of these local races this weekend.   We recommend you schedule some time and meet with one of the Balance trainers next week and discuss a new workout program for the spring and summer.  One of the most important ways to sustain your fitness regiment is to mix it up.  Balance trainers can provide you with a new program, fresh ideas, and fabulous results.  It is time to take advantage of it!

Potomac River Run

Marathon and Half Marathon

Date:  Sunday, May 5, 2019 • Washington, DC

This race — which bills itself as the “easiest marathon and half marathon in America” — is part of a group of running events that take place each year on the C&O Canal Towpath trail, which runs alongside the 184-mile-long Chesapeake & Ohio Canal that stretches all the way from the tidal basin in Washington, D.C. to the mountains of western Maryland.

If you hate hills, you’ll love this flat course and race.  It is so flat you probably won’t notice any changes in elevation the entire course.  You’ll push off at Fletchers Cove, an inlet on the river just south of the Potomac Palisades Parkway and Canal Road.   You’ll work your way all the way to 495 near Clara Barton Parkway and retrace your steps back to Fletchers Cove where you’ll finish up, get your medal, and feel great about how you started your day.
