Balance was Born in dc

Balance Gym is a DC-born and bred business with humble beginnings: Balance began as a bootcamp space off a basketball court in Kalorama, where our founder Mark Crick dreamed of opening a gym to house the city’s very best trainers and a no-BS attitude toward fitness. Fifteen years later, Balance has four award-winning gyms in the Thomas Circle, Foggy Bottom, Glover Park, and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, and three award-winning CrossFit boxes. Our Glover Park location is also home to Balance Burn – one of only two Lagree fitness studios in DC, and the only one to feature the Megaformer MS3.

One thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to “train for sport, train for life.”

Balance offers more than 40 online classes per week, including our signature Balance Bootcamp (which we take outside to the surrounding neighborhoods or our roof deck when the weather allows—and whenever we open our doors back up to the public), Balance Body classes; traditional classes like yoga, barre, and Zumba. In addition, CrossFit Balance, led by Danielle Dionne, sent teams to the CrossFit Games in 2017 and 2018 – and the team brought home sixth place in 2018. They have Zoom classes you can

What is particularly close to our hearts is our community. Throughout the year (and before COVID-19), Balance hosted hikes, rooftop parties, scavenger hunts, farm weekends, and many fitness events for our members. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, we know you’ll feel welcome here at Balance. Coaches and members become friends, trainers and clients attend sporting events and concerts, and we pride ourselves on our involvement in the local community through annual support of many charities and local sports teams, such as the DC Eagles rugby team and the DC Strokes rowing club. In addition, Balance has been a leading supporter of both Bike to the Beach and Cupid’s Undie Run for more than a decade, is an annual participant in the Capital Pride Parade, and for the last two years has partnered with the Women’s Strength Coalition to host the second annual Pull for Pride Deadlift Competition in support of Casa Ruby.

Balance isnt perfect but neither is the concept of "balance". Relative to the rest of the duds (other gyms) in the city balance will offer higher quality on all accords. Even the trainers appear to... be in the know. Front desk are always chill. I mean have you ever tried talking to the front desk at Golds. The aura of used car sells people is nowhere to be found. Plus balance is pretty inclusive in the 2021 sense. Cheersread more

If you live and/or work on the Hill, then *this* is the gym to get your gains. I've had nothing but a positive experience since joining in November 2017. For a more structured workout, I can highly... recommend trainer Rod Hill (FitSquad International). Rod is a true professional and a wealth of exercise and health-science information. Thanks, Rod!read more

Hands down the best gym I've ever used/been a member of. The locker room in the Foggy Bottom location is always pristine and has beautiful showers, clean warm towels, hair dryers, deodorant, hair... spray, makeup wipes, cotton balls, q-tips, lotion, straighteners - anything you could need. And there's a sauna in the locker room! The classes were my absolute favorite part, though. After awhile, I almost exclusively was going to their classes, every day, sometimes twice a day! The instructors are so awesome (especially Kathleen, Chris, and Sarah!) and there's such a good variety of classes (lifting, bootcamp, cycling, bodypump, yoga, HIIT, crossfit, barre, pilates, and more). The location was beyond convenient for me, too. I unfortunately had to move out of the area after only 7 months of being a member here, but honestly, this gym is the one thing I miss the most from living in DC. I looked forward to every day because I knew I could start it with a killer workout at this gym.read more

I found CrossFit Foggy Bottom through a Yelp review and initially thought it sounded too good to be true. Having visited a few CF boxes (gyms) in the past that were basically garages modified into a... gym, I had never heard the types of comments about a facility. All I need to say is that I was blown away by everything. The CrossFit area has everything you could need from full racks, bars, rubber weights, ropes, kettle balls, medicine balls, etc. The coaches (instructors) are very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. I've worked closest with Jim and Olga who are both fantastic coaches and athletes who practice themselves and set examples. The motto is "Keep it Classy" and this describes it perfectly.Additionally, the location inside a Fairmont hotel allows benefit from all facilities including great bathrooms, sauna, pool, lifting/cardio area, free towel service, free lockers, and great Paleo take-out.Without sounding over the top in commendation, this is the best gym I've ever been to and wish I wasn't leaving DC so I could continue here. Highly recommended for at least a free visit for which they are very accommodating.TL;DR - Fantastic facility that holds up to all the other reviews.read more
